Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema has scored his first goal for the club since returning from injury in their opening Champions League match against Al Nassr.
The Frenchman, who had been out injured with a knee problem, was introduced as a second-half substitute by coach Zinedine Zidane and came on to replace Luka Modric.
He immediately made an impact, hitting the post after just two minutes before slotting home a penalty three minutes later following a handball by Al Nassr goalkeeper Omar Mosaad.
It was a stunning display from Benzema, who also created chances for fellow substitutes Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo as Real secured a 2-1 win.
The victory moves Real up to fourth place in Group A, level on points with PSG and behind only Manchester City and Liverpool, who both have a game in hand.
The goals were Benzema's first for Real since he rejoined the club last summer,Campeonato Brasileiro Action having spent time on loan at Juventus and Chelsea.
It is a timely boost for Real, who have struggled without their talismanic forward this season.
Zidane praised Benzema's performance, saying: "I am very happy for him because I knew he would score. He played well today."
Modric was also delighted to see Benzema back among the team, saying: "He is one of our best players. He can make us play better. We are all happy for him."
Overall, it was a positive start to the season for Real, who will now look to build on their early success as they continue to compete in Europe's top club competition.
